Tiffany Medina is a multimedia and community artist in Denver, Colorado. She attended the Community College of Aurora for her business degree. She explored many different types of work before she decided to pursue her art. Tiffany began her artistic journey as a child. She looked up to her mother who expressed herself through art and music and urged her kids to do the same. Tiffany would draw and write to keep her mind off the family hardships. Eventually realizing how art was her therapy, it has since become a part of her healing journey and uses it to connect.
She utilizes art and creativity to heighten positivity and bring light into the dark spaces She grew up believing her circumstances were normal, until she realized they weren’t. Tiffany faced circumstances that pushed her to fight for this moment. Overcoming her emotional burdens, family deaths, addiction, abuse and homelessness, she realized there are so many reasons to smile.
She reached a turning point in 2010, when Tiffany lost her mother in a car accident, gave birth to her daughter, began her divorce process. She began to transform and realized she needed more. This propelled her to see where art would lead her. She learned about Redline Contemporary art center and began attending the community studio while she was also experiencing housing hardships. Redline gave her the space and resources to connect her creative practices and emotional well being. She used paint, collage, sculpture and found items to transform her ideas into tangible pieces.
From there, Tiffany began working on many projects. She exhibits in the Core artist show every year, has been published in Artist Talk Magazine as well as a rotating show at St. Johns cathedral in Denver. Tiffany has several up coming projects including a gun violence traveling mural project. She will work with different artist on creating art and bring awareness to communities about gun violence. Tiffany has lost several friends and family members, Gayland Allen Jr. 1996-2019, to gun violence. She is a recipient of a grant and co exhibition for a science informed project about the uses of high potency cannabis in pregnancy, youth and mental health.
Tiffany facilitates the community studio Redline and leads the Core artist group. curating exhibitions throughout the year. She is a mentor with the arts education program for the past 2 years. Creating a project based around her mentees social justice concern. and helping too bring their ideas to life. Formerly the creative athletic director and travel coordinator for Athlete Strategy, working with kids is a passion of Tiffany's. She held a kids summer art program at a nonprofit in Montbello, CO, Athletics and Beyond.
As Tiffany imagines the spaces she used to live in, the dark corners and the feelings of being lost, she now uses paint and other mediums to speak for her soul. The development of her artistry, she is constantly learning to positively navigate through through the new phase of life. Beautifying moments that weren't always beautiful.
